McKirahan (arm) was outrighted to Double-A Mississippi on Tuesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
McKirahan spent all of 2016 rehabbing after undergoing Tommy John surgery early in the season, and the Braves decided that it would be best to leave him off the 40-man roster until he can contribute at full capacity near the major league level. He'll start the season at Double-A, but he could progress quickly given his solid showing at Triple-A during the 2015 campaign.
