Guardians' Kirk McCarty: Optioned to Columbus

McCarty was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday,Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

McCarty has primarily pitched in Columbus this season, and he's struggled while up in the majors with a 6.05 ERA and 1.66 WHIP across 19.1 innings. Hunter Gaddis will have his contract selected and will start Friday against the Astros, taking McCarty's spot on the roster.
