Dominguez has elected free agency after being outrighted to Triple-A by the Padres, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Dominguez tossed a career-high 35.2 innings at the big league level for the Padres in 2016, carrying a 5.05 ERA and 1.43 WHIP and striking out batters at a surprisingly low 5.0 K/9 clip despite a big fastball (average velocity: 96.0 mph). The hard-throwing right-hander will likely draw interest in the form of a minor league deal with another club this winter.
