Mariners' Nevin Ashley: Reassigned to minor-league camp

Ashley was reassigned to minor-league camp Friday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The Mariners made their final round of cuts Friday in advance of Opening Day and Ashley was one of seven players to be optioned or reassigned. Ashley joined the Mariners in the offseason as a non-roster invitee and collected five hits over 12 at-bats this spring. He'll provide organizational depth at catcher while Mike Zunino and Carlos Ruiz stick with the big-league club.
