Waldrop was designated for assignment Friday.

The Reds needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty reliever Wandy Peralta and Waldrop was deemed expendable. If the 24-year-old outfielder couldn't earn a spot with the Reds, who have one of the worst outfields in baseball, it's hard to imagine another team bringing him in on anything other than a minor league deal. He has a career .217/.250/.261 slash line with zero home runs in 24 big league plate appearances and he managed just a .663 OPS at Triple-A this year.
