Royals' Abraham Toro: Signs NRI pact with Royals

The Royals signed Toro to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Toro got into 77 games with the Red Sox this past season, slashing .239/.289/.371 with seven long balls. The 29-year-old can handle first base, second base and third base, and that versatility gives him a shot to land an Opening Day roster spot in a reserve role.
