Royals' Jake Newberry: Moves to minors

The Royals optioned Newberry to Triple-A Omaha on Monday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

The transaction opens up a spot on the Royals' 26-man active roster ahead of the team's upcoming three-game series in Tampa Bay that begins Tuesday. During his week-long stint with the big club, Newberry went unused out of the bullpen.
