Canucks' Matt Irwin: Placed on waivers

Irwin was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL on Sunday.

Irwin signed a two-way deal with the Canucks after playing 61 games with the Capitals last season, tallying two goals and three assists. If he clears waivers, the veteran blueliner will report to AHL Abbotsford, where he'll serve as depth for Vancouver.
