Flames' Nicklas Grossmann: Signs PTO with Calgary

Grossman inked a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the Flames on Wednesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet reports.

Grossman has spent the last seven seasons with Dallas, Philadelphia, and most recently, Arizona, where he tallied seven points over 50 games during the 2015-16 campaign. At six-foot-four, 230 pounds, the rearguard displays good puck-handling for a guy his size and is trusted on the ice as evidence by his average 17-plus minutes of ice time over his NHL tenure. If he gets signed to a long-term contract, he figures to find his role somewhere behind veteran blueliners T.J. Brodie and Mark Giordano.
