Gregory Campbell: Placed on unconditional waivers

Campbell was placed on unconditional waivers Saturday, Aaron Portzline reports.

Campbell refuses to report to AHL Cleveland, as he's said in the past that he doesn't want to take a spot away from a young prospect. That speaks volumes about the veteran pivot's character, but rules are rules, and the nobleman will be bought out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent; assuming he clears waivers, of course.
