Maple Leafs' Matt Benning: Brought up from minors

Benning was recalled from AHL Toronto on Tuesday.

Chris Tanev (lower body) will not play against the Devils on Tuesday, which resulted in Benning being brought up from the minors. Benning will serve as the seventh defenseman for the Leafs on Tuesday. The 31-year-old has two goals, eight helpers and a plus-4 rating across 16 outings with the Marlies this season.
