No. 3 Andy Murray has been upset in the fourth round of the 2015 US Open by No. 15 Kevin Anderson from South Africa in four sets (7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6).

Anderson was terrific on his first serve, getting 64 percent of serves in and winning 79 percent of those points -- including 25 aces and just six double faults. Anderson was aggressive in going at Murray and hit a ridiculous 81 winners in the match -- which negated 57 unforced errors.

Murray was solid, but needed to be excellent to get past the red-hot Anderson. Murray battled back from two sets down in Round 2 to win in five sets, but couldn't recover against Anderson.

The match was the longest of the tournament at four hours and 19 minutes -- (which will happen with three tiebreaks). Anderson swept the final tiebreak 7-0 to get the win as Murray simply got outplayed on Monday night.

Anderson now moves on to face No. 5 Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals. This is the first time Murray has missed a grand slam quarterfinal -- in a tournament he appeared in -- since going down in the third round of the 2010 US Open.
