MLB.com reported the Angels have been giving third baseman Luis Jimenez work at first base in order to give him more versatility as he battles for a roster spot, with Jimenez playing seven innings at first this spring.

"I can't say I feel comfortable," Jimenez, told MLB.com "I'm just trying to do the best I can because I'm not familiar with first base. But little by little, I can get it. I just have to keep working."

He is blocked on the Angels' depth chart by Alberto Callaspo, who signed a two-year deal this offseason, and the Angels also have top prospect Kaleb Cowart at third base, long term.

Jimenez has hit .308/.424/.462 in 33 plate appearances this spring.
