We know the Orioles have an offer out to free agent slugger Chris Davis. We also know that Orioles center fielder Adam Jones loves to have fun as much as anyone, sometimes on Twitter. Thus, this exchange isn't particularly surprising.

Of course, there's always a chance Davis actually did decide to re-up with the Orioles in the morning, setting in motion a Davis-Jones plan to make it look like they were trolling everyone when they were actually being serious. Conspiracy theories abound! Jones even threw everyone off the scent by tweeting the same "good morning" tweets to Ryan Flaherty (here) and L.J. Hoes (here).

So, yes, there's a 99 percent chance this was a pair of friends who wanted to see: 1) which media members would frantically claim this meant something -- which you won't see here; and 2) to get a rise out of Orioles fans just for fun.

Then again, there's always room for the Dumb and Dumber "so you're telling me there's a chance ... " line.
