Brad Hawpe designated for assignment

The Angels designated first baseman Brad Hawpe for assignment Monday. The move clears a roster spot for the promotion of Daniel Stange. 

Hawpe hit just .185 over 27 at-bats with two runs driven in during his short time with the Angels. The 34-year-old had not played in the majors since 2011 before seeing time with the Halos this year.
