Darwin Barney posts 0-fer in season debut

Cubs second baseman Darwin Barney made his season debut in Tuesday's series opener against the Rangers. After missing time due to a laceration on his knee, he went 0 for 4 with a strikeout in a 4-2 loss.

Barney was nearly the hero for Chicago as he came up in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs but Craig Gentry made a diving catch in center field to end the contest.
