Rangers first baseman Jeff Baker was given the start in left field for the third straight day in Thursday's game against the White Sox, but struck out in each of his three trips to the plate before being removed for a defensive replacement.
Manager Ron Washington insisted before the game that he wasn't employing a strict platoon in left field, so David Murphy should expect to see some action at the position soon. After homering in each of his last two games, Baker's ugly performance dropped his line to .321/.406/.679 in 32 plate appearances.
