LOOK: Three guys explore what's left of the Astrodome in 2012
In 2012, three friends snuck into the Astrodome for a night of exploring. The stadium has not been used regularly since 2002 or at all since 2006.
The Astros called the Astrodome home from 1965-99 before moving into what is now called Minute Maid Park. The Astrodome continued to be used for non-baseball events for several years before closing its doors for good in 2006. Now the building just sits uninhabited.
Earlier this week, a user on reddit posted some photos of three pals who snuck in and explored the abandoned Astrodome -- with beers in hand the entire way -- back in early 2012. They were able to sneak in through a hole in the fence. All of the photos can be seen right here. Here are a few of my favorites:

The obligatory locker room shot. It was mentioned in the photo album that all the lights were on the Astrodome, which is a) a total waste of perfectly good electricity, and b) sort of freaky. Wouldn't the bulbs have burned out by now? The ghost of Chester Charge must roam the halls, turning lights on and off as necessary.

It's old and grimy, but there are the remnants of the shooting star logo the Astros used from 1994-99, their final years in the Astrodome.

Cushioned seats! I assume they're pretty close to the field then.

Our three heroes managed to make their way onto the Astrodome roof at the end of their highly illegal adventure.
