Mariners to name Lloyd McClendon new manager

The Mariners will name Lloyd McClendon their new manager, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com has confirmed. The Puget Sounds Business Journal first reported the news.
McClendon, 54, as been the Tigers hitting coach since 2007. He had previously interviewed with the Mariners for their managerial vacancy following the 2010 season. McClendon interviewed for the Tigers' job in recent weeks and the Marlins' job last winter.
Prior to joining the coaching staff in Detroit, McClendon managed the Pirates from 2001-05. Pittsburgh went 336-446 (.430) under his watch. He is well know for his colorful arguments with umpires, including a classic scene in which he removed first base and took it to the clubhouse in 2001:
The Reds (Bryan Price), Nationals (Matt Williams) and Tigers (Brad Ausmus) have all hired a new manager in recent weeks. The Cubs are still searching for a new skipper.
