Shane Victorino's hamstring injury has opened up a spot in the Red Sox outfield for Mike Carp to see regular playing time. Carp, who homered Friday and has four RBI in his last two games, started for the third time in four games Sunday against the Indians.
"We've gotten contributions from really every guy on this roster, and in Mike's situation, it's probably been in some moments of the game were they've been a little more focal or against a very good right-handed starter in [Justin] Masterson," manager John Farrell said, per MLB.com. "He's given us a huge lift coming off the bench."
