The Marlins announced Monday they not only removed veteran left-hander Randy Wolf from the rotation, but he was taken off the roster, as he was designated for assignment.

He will be replaced in the rotation by top pitching prospect Andrew Heaney, who will make his MLB debut Thursday against the Mets.

Wolf was 1-3 with a 6.10 ERA and .341 opponents' batting average in four starts since joining the Marlins' rotation in late May.
