Brett Lawrie, who is on the disabled list recovering from an oblique injury, has suffered a "significant" setback, according to John Lott of The National Post.
Lawrie was expected to be back with the Blue Jays this week but will now be shut down for at least seven days. The third baseman has hit .282/.326/.416 with nine home runs and 13 stolen bases this season.
Lawrie's continued absence has been difficult to overcome, as the Blue Jays have started three different third basemen in their last three games: Adeiny Hechavarria on Saturday, Mike McCoy on Sunday and Omar Vizquel on Tuesday.
