Alvaro Seijas: Let go by Cardinals
Seijas was released by the Cardinals on Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Seijas spent some of last season on the Cardinals' 40-man roster but has yet to make his big-league debut. He hasn't played above the Double-A level, where he owns an 8.78 ERA and an 8:21 K:BB in 13.1 innings of work this season.

Cardinals' Alvaro Seijas: Makes return from IL
Seijas (undisclosed) returned from the 7-day injured list Friday for Double-A Springfield, retiring one of the two hitters he faced in relief.
Seijas had been sidelined for a month with the unspecified injury. The 22-year-old had been working as a starter prior to landing on the IL, but the Cardinals may keep him in a relief role for the time being while he builds up his pitch count coming off the prolonged shutdown.

Cardinals' Alvaro Seijas: Moves to injured list
Seijas (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Springfield on Friday.
The 22-year-old opened the season at Double-A and has an 8.03 ERA, 2.48 WHIP and 7:17 K:BB across 12.1 innings (four starts) this season. It's unclear how long Seijas is expected to be sidelined by the unspecified injury.

Cardinals' Alvaro Seijas: Removed from 40-man roster
Seijas was outrighted off the Cardinals' 40-man roster and removed from the 60-man player pool Friday.
Seijas was added to the 40-man roster in November to protect him from the Rule 5 draft and began the season by working at the team's secondary camp in Springfield. Across 24 starts in the lower levels of the minors last season, the right-hander posted a 2.81 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 134.1 innings.

Cardinals' Alvaro Seijas: Optioned to High-A
Seijas was optioned to High-A Palm Beach on Saturday.
Seijas got a brief taste of big-league camp but will now join the minor leaguers. He has a mid-90s fastball and solid changeup and profiles best as a future reliever.

Cardinals' Alvaro Seijas: Protected from Rule 5 draft
Seijas was added to the Cardinals' 40-man roster Wednesday.
This protects him from the Rule 5 draft. The Cardinals must really like Seijas, as he has only made 10 starts at High-A and doesn't figure to reach the majors in 2020 unless he transitions to a relief role. He had a 2.65 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 43:26 K:BB in 54.1 innings in the pitcher-friendly Florida State league. Given his shaky command/control, the 6-foot-1 righty will likely end up in the bullpen long term.
