Angels' Erik Rivera: Back from elbow injury
Rivera (elbow) was activated from Single-A Inland Empire's 60-day injured list Monday and assigned to High-A Tri-City.
The 22-year-old Rivera began his professional career as an outfielder in 2019, but he converted to pitching in 2021. After suffering a sprained elbow late in the 2021 season and undergoing surgery, Rivera missed the entire 2022 campaign and opened the 2023 season on the IL. He was cleared to begin an extended rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Aug. 2, and after making four appearances, he was ultimately activated and bumped up from Single-A to High-A. He's performed well through his first two appearances for Tri-City, striking out five while allowing no runs on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings.

Angels' Erik Rivera: Out with sprained elbow
Rivera is on the 7-day injured list at Low-A Inland Empire with a sprained UCL in his left elbow, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports.
He made just one start this season before suffering the injury. Rivera is currently rehabbing the injury in Arizona and seems unlikely to return this season. Tommy John surgery is a possibility.
