2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Vegas picks, odds, predictions: Legendary NASCAR expert avoiding Joey Logano
Micah Roberts pioneered wagering on NASCAR races and has nailed three Cup Series races this season.
Kevin Harvick began the 2020 NASCAR schedule with eight consecutive top-10 finishes before placing 11th last Sunday at Bristol. He seeks his second victory of the year in Sunday's 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The 2014 Cup Series champion, who is tied for 12th on the all-time list with 50 series wins, looks to record his sixth top-five finish of the year and third victory in 30 career starts at Atlanta.
Harvick is the 7-2 favorite in the latest 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 odds from William Hill. Chase Elliott (6-1), Kyle Busch (13-2), Brad Keselowski (13-2), Alex Bowman (15-2) and Logano (15-2) are also among the top 2020 NASCAR at Atlanta contenders according to oddsmakers. Roberts is among the nation's premier NASCAR betting experts, and his top pick won the first two races of the 2020 season. In the season-opening Daytona 500, he nailed Hamlin's win at 10-1 odds, and he hit eventual winner Joey Logano at 13-2 in the Pennzoil 400 a week later. He also nailed the victory by Hamlin, who wasn't one of the top three favorites, in the Toyota 500.
Roberts also is coming off a huge 2019 NASCAR season. Those who wagered $100 on Roberts' predicted winner in each of the 40 NASCAR races last year (an investment of $4,000) finished with a profit of $2,100. In addition, those who put down $50 on each of Roberts' top four choices in each of the 40 NASCAR races last year (an investment of $8,000) were up $3,400. Anyone who has followed his NASCAR picks is up huge year after year.
Now, Roberts has analyzed the field and odds for Sunday's NASCAR at Atlanta race. He's sharing his winner and leaderboard right here.
2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 expert predictions
One shocker: Roberts is fading Logano, even though he's one of the top 2020 QuikTrip 500 contenders at 15-2. In fact, Roberts says Logano, who is winless in 13 career starts at Atlanta, doesn't even crack the top 15.
"In the six races using this week's package, Logano has been just above average, with his only top-five finish being a win at Las Vegas that was aided by a late pitting strategy," Roberts told SportsLine.
Another curveball: Roberts is high on Denny Hamlin, even though he's a huge long shot at 12-1 in the latest 2020 NASCAR at Atlanta odds. Hamlin has been up and down over his last four races, winning at Darlington and posting 29th- and second-place finishes at Charlotte before coming in 17th at Bristol last Sunday. The two-time reigning Daytona 500 champion, who has posted two victories this season and is tied with Matt Kenseth for fourth among active drivers with 39 Cup Series wins, has posted seven top-10s in 20 career starts at Atlanta.
"Hamlin's lone Atlanta win came in 2012, and he's had a couple of early exits here since then," Roberts told SportsLine. "But I like how his team is set with this week's race package."
