The NBA Christmas Day action tips off at noon with the Cleveland Cavaliers visiting the New York Knicks, who won the NBA Cup this month. The Knicks (20-9) have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, while the Cavaliers (17-14) are seventh. Both were expected to contend in the East, but Cleveland has underachieved after losing 18 games all last season. New York is fifth in the NBA in scoring (120.1 points per game) and Cleveland is sixth (120.0), but the Cavs allow 117.5 (20th) and the Knicks yield 112.9 (seventh). The Knicks are 6.5-point home favorites and cover the spread in 62% of the SportsLine Projection Model's simulations.   

The top two teams in the West face off at 2:30 p.m. ET when the Oklahoma City Thunder host the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio (22-7) beat OKC for the second time this season on Tuesday night, accounting for half of the 29-4 Thunder's losses. Still Oklahoma City is a 9.5-point favorite at home, and the model has the Thunder covering 62% of the time. The Denver Nuggets will try to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves for the third time this season when they close out the Christmas Day NBA slate at 10:30 p.m. ET. The Nuggets are favored by 3.5 at home, but the model gives an A rating to Minnesota to cover, as it is doing so in 58% of simulations.

The Christmas Day NBA schedule also features Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors (5 p.m. ET) and Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers (8 p.m. ET). The Warriors (15-15) are 8.5-point home favorites and they cover in 59% of model simulations and beat the Mavs (12-19) outright 77% of the time. The Rockets (17-10) are favored by 2.5 points on the road against the Lakers, and the model has Houston covering 54% of the time.
