Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul can imagine a scenario where the banana boat reaches an NBA court. On the "Open Run" podcast with Jesse Williams and Stefan Marolachakis (around the 1:27 mark here), Paul did not dismiss the idea of teaming up with LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade at some point.

"Anything is possible, definitely," Paul said. "Anything is possible."

The subject came up not just because the four of them are friends, but because James started this conversation last season. In an interview with Bleacher Report's Howard Beck, James said he would take a pay cut in order to play with Anthony, Wade and Paul for a year or two.

"We'll work out together and stuff like that sometimes in the summer," Paul said on Open Run. "Last time we did that was ... right around '08, I think, for the Olympics sometime. And D-Wade was coming off his injuries, right? And I'll never forget it: D-Wade hit us all and was like, 'Hey man, I need to see what it's like to play for real.' And we all met in Chicago. I'll never forget that. Like, it's crazy. For him, we went to a gym in Chicago -- me, Bron, Melo did -- and we played pickup with some other guys just to give him some of that real feel of what it was like. And then, I don't know if you remember, '08 Olympics, he went off. He went off. And it's cool, that's what you do for your real friends and your real brothers."

It sounds like Paul is open to the idea, and that is significant. If these guys are all motivated to make this happen, then there's no reason it can't happen.

The logistics of it, though, are tricky. Where would they play? When would they do this? Wade, 34, is the oldest of the bunch, and he just signed a two-year deal with his hometown Chicago Bulls. Paul can become a free agent and sign the most lucrative long-term contract of his career this summer. Anthony is under contract until 2019 with a no-trade clause. It's difficult to imagine James leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers anytime soon. It's a fun idea for them to kick around right now precisely because they know it'll be a while before they can seriously look at it.
