Forward DeMarre Carroll is joining Utah teammate Paul Millsap with the Hawks. Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports that Carroll has agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with Atlanta.
Carroll is one of those surprisingly impactful low-cost guys. He averaged six points and 3 rebounds last season for Utah in just 17 minutes per game, but 13-6 per 36 works out pretty well. More importantly, he's a terrific hustle player who also can defend when locked in.
With the Hawks looking at the departure of Josh Smith, this provides them with depth at forward and gives them versatility on the cheap. A surprisingly good signing from Danny Ferry, who is on a roll this week.
