Through 3 Quarters

Fans are certainly getting their money's worth as the New York Knicks and the Charlotte Hornets have combined for 189 points three quarters in. New York has emerged as the frontrunner and is ahead of Charlotte 99-90.

The Knicks have enjoyed the tag-team combination of power forward Obi Toppin and small forward R.J. Barrett. The former has 14 points and five assists along with six boards, while the latter has 24 points. One thing to keep an eye out for is Jericho Sims' foul situation as he currently sits at four.

Point guard LaMelo Ball has led the way so far for Charlotte, as he has shot 6-for-13 from beyond the arc and has recorded 32 points, four dimes and eight rebounds. Ball has also picked up four fouls, though.

This is the most points New York has had yet this year going into the fourth quarter.

New York @ Charlotte

Current Records: New York 30-42; Charlotte 37-35

What to Know

After a four-game homestand, the New York Knicks will be on the road. They will take on the Charlotte Hornets at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday at Spectrum Center. Charlotte should still be riding high after a win, while the Knicks will be looking to regain their footing.

New York was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 117-111 to the Atlanta Hawks. Despite the loss, New York had strong showings from small forward R.J. Barrett, who posted a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds, and point guard Alec Burks, who had 21 points.

Meanwhile, things were close when Charlotte and the New Orleans Pelicans clashed on Monday, but Charlotte ultimately edged out the opposition 106-103. It was another big night for the Hornets' point guard LaMelo Ball, who had 17 points and nine assists.

The Knicks are expected to lose this next one by 8.5. Now might not be the best time to take New York against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past three consecutive games.

New York is now 30-42 while Charlotte sits at 37-35. A couple offensive stats to keep an eye on: New York has only been able to knock down 43.60% percent of their shots, which is the fourth lowest field goal percentage in the league. The Hornets' offense has more to brag about, as they they come into the contest boasting the third most points per game in the league at 115. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
