Through 3 Quarters

The experts predicted a defeat for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but with just one quarter left to go, they seem like they might make the experts look bad. a victory is still up for grabs for either squad after three quarters, but they are up 81-77 over the New Orleans Pelicans

Oklahoma City has been riding high on the performance of shooting guard Kenrich Williams, who has 14 points in addition to five rebounds. One thing to keep an eye out for is Tre Mann's foul situation as he currently sits at five.

New Orleans has been relying on center Jonas Valanciunas, who has dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards, and small forward Brandon Ingram, who has 22 points along with seven boards. A double-double would be Valanciunas' sixth in a row.

The Pelicans haven't lost 95% of the games in which they were down heading into the final period this year, so a win here would be refreshing.

Who's Playing

New Orleans @ Oklahoma City

Current Records: New Orleans 8-21; Oklahoma City 8-18

What to Know

After a few days' rest for both teams, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Thunder will meet up at 8 p.m. ET Dec. 15 at Paycom Center. Given that these two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

New Orleans ended up a good deal behind the San Antonio Spurs when they played on Sunday, losing 112-97. Small forward Brandon Ingram put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 27 points and nine assists along with seven boards.

Meanwhile, the matchup between Oklahoma City and the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday was not a total blowout, but with the Thunder falling 103-84 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. Point guard Josh Giddey had a rough night: he finished with only six points on 3-for-14 shooting and turned the ball over four times in his 30 minutes on the court.

The Pelicans are the favorite in this one, with an expected 4.5-point margin of victory. The smart bettors have been the ones to keep their money on New Orleans' opponents whenever they hit the road.

New Orleans is now 8-21 while Oklahoma City sits at 8-18. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: New Orleans has allowed their opponents to shoot 47.30% from the floor on average, which is the second highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. The Thunder have experienced some struggles of their own as they have only been able to knock down 41% percent of their shots, which is the second lowest field goal percentage in the league. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
