The Lakers definitely would've preferred Kobe Bryant to be playing Game 1 against the Spurs instead of tweeting.

And maybe for more reason than one.

Bryant spent basically the entire game tweeting his thoughts and analysis of the Lakers, criticizing their "matador defense" and making sure to point out that Pau Gasol needed to post up a lot.

Following the game, Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni was asked for his thoughts on Bryant's tweeting and he brushed it off.

"It's great to have that commentary," D'Antoni said, reportedly rolling his eyes.

Asked if Kobe's tweeting is appropriate, D'Antoni responded, "Nah that's fine. He's a fan right now. He's a fan. And you guys put a little bit more importance on that kind of fan, but he's a fan and he gets excited and I'm sure he wants to be part of it, which I don't blame him."

Bryant sees and hears all, though. Upon hearing D'Antoni call him a fan, Kobe tweeted, "A fan?? Lol #On to game 2. I will be watching from the crib again in a pau jersey and laker face paint ha! All jk aside We will be fine on wed #

So he took it in stride.

Bryant's tweeting has caused a stir, as you might expect; realizing it, the Mamba is going to chill on his 140-character coaching.

A fan tweeted at Bryant encouraging him to do what he wants to which the guard responded, "I would but don't want my dudes having distractions plus some writers luv creating controversy so why give them the amo."

Probably wise.

Why isn't Coach Kobe with the team, though, so that he could give them his advice in person? Wouldn't you know it, he explained that in a tweet:

Bryant reportedly did text Pau Gasol at halftime of Game 1 to give him some thoughts. He's been doing that since he went down with his injury.

As anything with Bryant, I thought his tweet game was strong, and very clutch. Championship-level tweeting, if you ask me. His hashtag use was definitely on point.

First a postseason without Bryant on the floor, now one without Kobe on Twitter. We can't catch a break.
