LeBron's shoes dipping in price, feeling the burn of Curry's UA impact
LeBron's shoes previously sold for $200
Usually as a player becomes more popular and their line of signature shoes becomes a staple of the industry, you see the price continue to either increase or at best remain flat. It's pretty rare that you see a superstar's shoe line take a dip in price, especially when they're still at, or very close to, the height of their fame. After LeBron James just took the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first NBA championship, it looks like his shoes need a boost in the sales department.
According to various outlets, Nike is planning to lower the price of the unreleased LeBron 14s to retail for $175; the LeBron 13s went for $200. There have been reports that LeBron's shoes and the Kevin Durant's shoes have struggled to sell with their high prices. Durant's shoes have taken a $30 dip in price, as well.

LeBron James' Nike sneakers are about to get more affordable, with the brand planning to sell his forthcoming LeBron 14 shoe for $175. James' last full-on signature offering, the LeBron 13, retailed for $200.
Chain sneaker retailer Foot Locker said in an earnings call in May that it was having trouble selling Nike LeBron and KD shoes because of their high prices and that it was addressing the challenge with Nike.
This isn't the only signature product from the brand to take a hit in pricing-Kevin Durant's latest signature shoe starts at $150, compared to $180 for the previous pair.

You have to wonder if the rise of Stephen Curry's shoes with Under Armour and their popularity on the market at a much more affordable price of $135 is another big factor in lowering the price for Nike's two biggest current NBA stars. Curry and UA have cut into a big chunk of the market, nearly doubling their worth as an entity when projected over the life of Curry's contract.
LeBron's shoes have done well in the past and Durant's shoes are popular among basketball players, but they've both lost significant ground to what Curry and Under Armour are currently putting out there.
