LOOK: Spurs' Dejounte Murray defends weird tattoo with confusing explanation
Murray isn't helping himself out much with this one
There are a lot of positives for Spurs rookie Dejounte Murray in the 2017 NBA playoffs. Due to Tony Parker's injury, Murray has been getting a lot more playing time, and he had a tremendous performance in their closeout Game 6 against the Rockets with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
But there have also been some negatives -- he's played poorly for stretches, he's shooting less than 40 percent from the field in the postseason, and, oh yes, there's the fact that the supremely awful tattoo he has on his right shoulder was put on display for the world to see in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Warriors on Sunday.
I have no clue what it's supposed to be, so let the good folks on our social media team explain:
Seriously, if only we knew what that thing was supposed to be. If only Dejounte Murray himself would comment on our post and tell us what he was thinking when he got the tattoo in the first place. If only ... wait a second ...

Well there you have it! Yes, Murray himself graced our Instagram account with his presence to explain his tattoo. The only problem is he didn't do a very good job.
"It's a mean face cause I'm a SAVAGE!!!!!!!"
Riiiiight. I was having trouble understanding before, but now that I know it's supposed to be a savage with seven exclamation points, things are really starting to clear up.
The ambiguous explanation notwithstanding, it was pretty cool of Murray to have a sense of humor about it and join in on the fun. The promising young point guard is turning some heads this postseason and could earn himself a pretty nice contract down the road, so he'll likely have enough money to get a nice cover-up of that tattoo ... unless he'd feel slightly less savage without it.
