The Phoenix Suns are on the verge of acquiring big man Brandan Wright from the Boston Celtics in exchange for a future Minnesota Timberwolves draft pick, according to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski

Wright's tenure in Boston has been rather uneventful. He arrived in the Rajon Rondo deal on Nov. 18, and has not been a major part of head coach Brad Stevens' rotation, averaging just 10.8 minutes per game and even taking a DNP-CD against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. It is unclear whether or not Celtics president Danny Ainge always planned to flip Wright, or if the front office decided in the last three weeks that he wasn't going to be a part of its future.

Prior to that trade, Wright was averaging 18.7 minutes per game for the Dallas Mavericks, functioning as a mini-Tyson Chandler. He was a deadly offensive weapon in the pick-and-roll, shooting an unbelievable 74.8 percent from the field and averaging 8.8 points and 4.1 rebouds per game in 27 appearances. His lanky farme inhibits him on defense, but he's an effective shot blocker regardless. The Suns have to hope their freewheeling offense and dynamic guards will bring out the best in Wright. There seems to be a good chance that will happen, and this should help Phoenix's hopes of sticking in the playoff picture. The team is eighth in the West at the moment, but the dangerous Oklahoma City Thunder are four games back.

As for the pick: it's top-12 protected in 2015 and 2016, and then it turns into two second-round picks: Minnesota's selections in 2016 and 2017. Translation: unless Minnesota makes an enormous, highly unlikely leap next season, Ainge just added another two second-round picks to his huge array of them.
