Tim Duncan joins exclusive company with 15,000 rebounds
Spurs legend adds to his historic totals, crossing 15,000 rebounds in his 19th season.
Tim Duncan reached another milestone Thursday night, as the San Antonio Spurs legend reached 15,000 career rebounds. The other players on that list? Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elvin Hayes, and Moses Malone. Quite the exclusive club.
Even more exclusive? Here is the complete list of players with 25,000 points, 15,000 rebounds, and 3,000 blocks:
1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
2. Tim Duncan.
That's it. (Of note, blocks weren't tracked until 1974. You can bet Chamberlain would have landed on that list if they were tracked.)
Duncan will be remembered more for his titles and consistency than he will any outrageous statistical accomplishments, but the fact that he's been such a good rebounder for so long speaks to his greatness. Duncan is still averaging 10.8 rebounds per 36 minutes this season, even as the Spurs focus on getting him more rest than ever.
Duncan is currently 7th all time in rebounds.
