After eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and three straight championships from 2000 to 2002, Shaquille O'Neal left the organization on sour terms when he was traded to the Miami Heat. He feuded with the ownership. He feuded with Kobe Bryant. And he won another title, this time with Miami.

But when it was all said and done, the Lakers were still happy to honor Shaq and put his jersey in the rafters with the other all-time greats that have had their number retired. After a nice video tribute from Kobe Bryant, a few stories from Phil Jackson, and some words from Jeanie Buss, Shaq took the spotlight and delivered his speech.

During the halftime ceremony, we heard the theme to Superman. We heard the crowd chant "We want Phil!" with Mike D'Antoni in the locker room. And we got to see the personality from Shaq that Lakers' fans loved for nearly a decade. O'Neal was in a great mood, thanked his friends and basketball greats, and seemed to be genuinely honored to be recognized for his place in Lakers' folklore.

Did he forget to mention Kobe though? That's awkward.

Congratulation, Big Fella. You earned it.
