The Detroit Pistons' PA announcer Mason is a legend. He's been one of the best at introductions around the league for well over a decade. He helped set the hype at proper levels when Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace were dominating the Eastern Conference for years. His voice is as synonymous with the Pistons' brand as anything at this time.

With Kobe Bryant making his final appearance at The Palace of Auburn Hills (assuming these two teams don't meet in the NBA Finals), Mason gave a longer introduction than usual for the Los Angeles Lakers legend. Kobe had his impressive résumé read off with all of the many accomplishments over the years as the majority of the Detroit crowd applauded his career.

This could be the type of introduction you start getting around the NBA as Bryant makes his farewell tour. He's asked that teams don't present him with gifts during this time, but allowing the crowd to recognize Kobe's historic career one more time as he visits a city for the final time as a player is a great way to make up for the lack of gifts. Teams will want to send him off into the sunset with plenty of losses, but also the respect he's garnered over his 20-year career.
