Eli Manning: Joint practices will be 'civilized' without Jeremy Shockey
The Giants and Bengals will share the practice field this offseason, and Eli Manning thinks it'll go well without a certain former player hanging around.

Eli Manning isn't worried. He doesn't think the New York Giants' date with the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason will lead to any unnecessary skirmishes. When the Giants and Bengals get together for joint practices in August, all should go according to plan.
When Manning was asked about the Giants' upcoming joint practices, he answered by saying that without a certain former tight end involved, the proceedings should be "civilized."
That former player is Jeremy Shockey, who played for the Giants from 2002 to 2007 and has been out of the league since 2011.
Eli Manning on practicing vs. the Bengals: "Shockey’s not here anymore so I think we’ll have a shot to keep it civilized.''

The last time the Giants held a joint practice, the year was 2005 and the other team was the New York Jets, which already doesn't sound like the best idea. Sure enough, the teams frequently broke off into fighting.
According to The New York Daily News, the first play in that practice led to a fight between Shockey and a Jets' defensive back. Then, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin got into a verbal fight with a Jets' assistant coach. In the end, as you can read here, the practice session turned into a reckless affair that seems fit for a movie starring Chris Hemsworth as Shockey.
Of course, it was only last offseason when the Raiders and Cowboys brawled during their joint practice, and Shockey probably wasn't around for that fight.
Best of luck, Giants and Bengals.
