Repeat after me: The Cowboys do not have a quarterback controversy. If you can't figure it out from Jerry Jones' words after the Cowboys' thrilling Week 10 victory over the Steelers -- he said Romo is on board being a backup -- maybe him talking about Romo as an offensive coordinator will help.

Jerry's been walking back the idea of Romo owning the job for a while now, and at this point he's fully in Dak Prescott's corner. On Tuesday morning, joining CBS Sports Radio affiliate 105.3 the Fan in Dallas, Jones said he sees Romo as a wonderful offensive coordinator.

"Make no mistake, he's been wonderful about this" Jones said. "Tony is going to have serious options, and he is a young man relatively speaking, and he has the ability to be a great offensive coordinator."

Jones added there is no need for Dak to "look over his shoulder" and pointed out how critical Romo has been in getting Prescott ready to play.

"The big thing I want to say is how much Tony is into helping Dak being prepared" said Jones.

But let's be clear: the Break Glass in Case of Emegency option is still very much on the table with Romo. Jones anticipates him being in uniform this week and preparing to be the backup.

"He'll practice this week as if he might be called upon and be able to play," Jones said. "I fully anticipate him to be active."

And Jones wouldn't rule out Romo playing this week, calling that idea "madness."

"Obviously you don't rule that out. That would be madness. If you rule that out, why would you ever even have a real commitment to a backup quarterback," Jones said. "You're going to do it, you've got a team that's feeling better about itself. It's gaining confidence in being able to handle adversity.

"Just like any position, but to have Tony Romo able to step in at the right time when you would need him is absolutely unthinkable in a positive way."

No one will stop talking about this, even though Jones is making it abundantly clear that Dak is the guy. Romo is a de facto offensive coordinator at this point, a helpful and awkward figurehead who is just waiting for his chance.

He's Drew Bledsoe from the 2001 Patriots reincarnated, and he's handling it with aplomb.
