On Wednesday the Houston Texans handed Brock Osweiler a $72 million contract to be their new quarterback. Many people had many good reactions to the sum of money -- over four years! -- Osweiler got, despite having seven career starts.

But no one was better than Matt Flynn, the former Packers/Seahawks/Raiders/Bills/Packers quarterback (last seen with the Saints) who found it UNBELIEVABLE that a quarterback with very few career starts could make so much money in free agency.

The irony here is great.

You see, because Matt Flynn once made a whole heaping pile of money without actually having any starts in the NFL.

Well, he had some starts. Two specifically. Then he landed a bunch of money from the Seahawks, only to get beaten out by Russell Wilson for the starting job and going back to being a journeyman.

He didn't get $72 million but he still got a lot of coin. So he probably shouldn't be joking about Osweiler's deal.

Flynn once landed a big deal without much starting experience. (USATSI)
