Starting goalie Braden Holtby will not be available to start Game 2 of the Washington Capitals' playoff series against the New York Islanders on Friday night. In his place, the Capitals will start Philipp Grubauer, who was just called up from the American Hockey League on Friday morning, the team announced just about 30 minutes before the start of the game.

Holtby is currently listed as being day-to-day with an illness according to the team. As recently as this afternoon the Capitals were still expecting him to be able to make the start.

Grubauer, 23, has appeared in 20 NHL games over the past three years but made just one appearance for the Capitals this season, stopping 23 out of the 25 shots he faced in a shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks back in February.

Holtby has been one of the Capitals' most important players this season but was not at his best in the Capitals' Game 1 loss on Wednesday.
