In a game with as rich a history as hockey, there is no shortage of amazing memorabilia one can collect. From game-used jerseys, to Stanley Cup rings, to just a simple poster, there's so much for one to accrue over years of being a fan. However, one new piece of hockey memorabilia proves once and for all that there is really something for everyone.

The good people at Teeters’ Taxidermy Studio in Halifax, Pa., do unique work. However, I have to wonder if their latest creation is especially unique even in their business (Nope, nevermind).

The company is currently selling a pair of once-living squirrels that are now stuffed and posed as a pair of hockey players engaged in a bloody fight.

 

Now there's something you don't see every day.

These aren’t just any stock players though, the squirrels are meant to represent actual American Hockey Leaguers. The fellow in the off-white jersey is the squirrel version of Steven Oleksy of the Hershey Bears, affiliate of the Washington Capitals, and Derek Mathers of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, farm club of the Philadelphia Flyers.

This is an awesome ONE OF A KIND collectors [sic] item for the Hershey Bears Hockey enthusiast. It consists of Hershey Bear's Steven Oleksy and Lehigh Valley Phantom's Derek Mathers. These are 100% real squirrels with exceptional detail as seen in the pictures. They have been mounted by a professional taxidermist and comes with an ice hockey base as shown.

There’s some attention to detail here, too. The little twigs for hockey sticks is a nice touch and each player’s name and number appear on the jerseys. Also, the gloves and puck (which is an acorn!) make reference to the “SHL” which we can only assume means Squirrel Hockey League. That is suddenly a thing I wished existed in real life now.

Based on a quick check of hockeyfights.com, Oleksy and Mathers have never fought, so this is apparently not a historical representation of an epic bout between these two players. It’s just a couple of squirrels fighting and it can be yours for $600.
