PhoenixCoyotesIt is still not known why Phoenix Coyotes forward Brett MacLean collapsed during a pickup hockey game in Owen Sound, Ontario, on Monday night, but according to a report from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail the 23-year-old's condition is improving.

“He’s conscious and he’s speaking,” MacLean’s agent, Anton Thun, told Shoalts on Wednesday. “They anticipate taking him out of intensive care Wednesday night and running tests to determine why he collapsed.”

The Coyotes announced on Tuesday that MacLean had to be rushed to the hospital after suffering a "cardiac emergency" on Monday.

MacLean spent the 2011-12 season bouncing between the Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets organizations via the waiver wire, and also spent some time playing for the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

In five games at the NHL level, he recorded two assists, both as a member of the Jets.

He has scored two goals to go with three assists in 18 career games during the past two seasons.
