U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati said a decision hasn't been made as to whether the U.S. would bid on the 2026 World Cup, adding that he wants to wait and see how President Donald Trump's executive order on immigration might impact the bid.

Last week Trump signed an executive order regarding America's policies on refugees and immigration, which included the temporary stoppage of visas being issued to Syrian nationals and Syrian refugees, and to those from six other countries.

The executive order has caused quite the reaction and uproar, including protests at airports, and it could even impact where the World Cup is played nine years from now.

"Sports obviously involves international movement and free movement of players, of ideas," Gulati said per ESPNFC.

"How this plays out in terms of international events, I think that's frankly a secondary issue right now. The issue involving the executive order and its implications are far broader than that."

Now, it's certainly too early to tell how all of this could impact a potential bid. For those voting, if the executive order is still in place, could it hurt voting? Time will tell, but Gulati is doing the right thing in waiting to see how it all plays out.
