UEFA Champions League picks for Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Real Madrid

Before you tune in to Wednesday's match, you need to see the Real Madrid vs. Shakhtar Donetsk picks from SportsLine's proprietary European soccer model. Created by two Norwegians -- professional poker player and sports bettor Jonas Gjelstad, and economics and engineering expert Marius Norheim -- the model analyzes worldwide betting data and exploits market inefficiencies, helping its followers cash in. Since coming to SportsLine last year, the algorithm is up over $8,500.

For Real Madrid vs. Shakhtar Donetsk, the model is backing Real Madrid to win by more than 1.5 goals (-150). Real Madrid features one of Europe's most potent offenses, having already scored 26 goals in 11 La Liga matches this season. Real Madrid's attack is led by striker Karim Benzema, who's recorded nine goals and seven assists in league play. He's also found the back of the net twice in the Champions League this season.

Also leading the charge for Real Madrid is Vinicius Junior. The 21-year-old scored twice in Real Madrid's 5-0 triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk in October and registered both of Real Madrid's goals in their 2-1 victory over Elche last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk has won each of its last three games since that 5-0 defeat to Real Madrid. However, the Ukrainian side has failed to score a goal thus far in the Champions League, which doesn't bode well against a Real Madrid defense that has given up just two goals in its last four fixtures.
