WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Big changes to Extreme Rules, including Edge vs. Finn Balor 'I quit' match
A ladder match and an 'I quit' match were both added to Extreme Rules on Monday night in Edmonton

With WWE Extreme Rules quickly approaching, the pay-per-view card received a pair of upgrades on Raw. Most notably, the Raw women's championship match between champion Bianca Belair and challenger Bayley is now set to be a ladder match.
Edge also made his return, saving Matt Riddle from a beatdown at the hands of The Judgement Day to close the show. After running off the group, Edge challenged Finn Balor to their first singles match, but not before upping the stakes by announcing the match would be held under "I quit" rules.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Extreme Rules gets two new big matches
Bianca Belair def. IYO SKY via pinfall with a K.O.D. The match started directly after a confrontation between Belair and Bayley. Bayley said Belair's success was only because she was sidelined due to injury and Belair countered by saying that the last time they met one-on-one, she hit Bayley with the K.O.D. on a ladder. This led to Bayley throwing down a challenge for their match for Belair's Raw women's championship at Extreme Rules to be made a ladder match.
Matt Riddle def. Damian Priest via pinfall with a spladle. After pulling off the win, Riddle was attacked by The Judgement Day before Edge's music hit and he ran to the ring to make the save, spearing Priest and Balor. Edge grabbed a microphone and challenged Balor to an "I quit" match at Extreme Rules.
Belair vs. Bayley in a ladder match has the potential of being a show-stealer in a card that is looking more stacked after every episode of WWE television. Edge vs. Balor will likely deliver as well, and throwing in the "I quit" stipulation sets up several ways to add some extra twists and turns to the match. Extreme Rules is looking very interesting as WWE continues to pick up serious momentum after Vince McMahon's retirement. Grade: A
What else happened on WWE Raw?
- Seth Rollins def. Rey Mysterio via submission with a Peruvian necktie. Dominik Mysterio distracted Rey, allowing Rhea Ripley to hit Rey from behind. That set up Rollins to hit a stomp before locking in the choke to send a message to Matt Riddle ahead of their match in the "Fight Pit."
- Kevin Owens & Johnny Gargano def. Alpha Academy via pinfall when Gargano hit Chad Gable with One Final Beat. Austin Theory came to ringside to try and aid Alpha Academy but couldn't tip the scales. Later, Alpha Academy and Theory were talking about getting revenge on Gargano when Gable received a call from Braun Strowman, with Strowman challenging him to a match next week.
- Finn Balor again made a pitch for AJ Styles to join The Judgement Day only to be rejected as Styles said he would watch his own back.
- Omos won another handicap match over enhancement talent.
- Dexter Lumis attacked The Miz backstage. Miz had hired a security team, which was taken out before Lumis, dressed like an Edmonton Oilers statue, attacked Miz with a hockey stick before choking him out.
- Candice LeRae def. Nikki A.S.H. via pinfall with an avalanche swinging neckbreaker. LeRae made her surprise Raw debut in the match.
- Sami Zayn def. AJ Styles via pinfall with a Helluva Kick. Solo Sikoa hit Styles with a uranage on the ring apron to set up the finish.
- The Judgement Day beat down AJ Styles when Styles again refused a Finn Balor offer to join the group. Balor stopped just short of stomping on a chair wrapped around Styles' head, saying "that's not what friends do to each other."
