WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Bobby Lashley retains U.S. title against Seth Rollins with Matt Riddle assist
Riddle cost his biggest rival a chance to win the United States championship

Seth Rollins may have believed that he'd put his rivalry with Matt Riddle to bed after winning their match at Clash at the Castle. However, Riddle made it clear that he was not yet done with Rollins on Monday Night Raw.
Rollins opened Raw by challenging Bobby Lashley for the United States championship. A tremendous back-and-forth bout, Rollins appeared to have the match won. Then, Riddle's music hit, causing just enough of a distraction to allow Lashley to get the win.
By the end of the night, Rollins and Riddle had agreed that they would meet one more time, this time at Extreme Rules in a "fight pit" match.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Sap Center in San Jose, California.
Matt Riddle costs Seth Rollins in United States title match
United States Championship – Bobby Lashley (c) def. Seth Rollins via pinfall after hitting a spear. The show kicked off with the title match. Both men went for it with a lot of big moves and interesting counters, including Lashley blocking a stomp through sheer strength and Rollins countering a spear into a pedigree. Lashley ultimately ducked under a stomp attempt and locked in a Hurt Lock, but Rollins escaped with a low blow. As Rollins looked to take advantage, Matt Riddle's music hit. Riddle ran to the ring but did not interfere, causing enough distraction that Lashley was able to hit a spear for the win.
The Judgement Day def. Matt Riddle & Rey Mysterio via pinfall when Finn Balor hit Mysterio with a Coup de Grace. After a lengthy match, Rollins ran in to interfere and take out Riddle at ringside. After Rey chased Rollins off, Dominik Mysterio taunted his father, daring Rey to hit him with a chair. An emotional Rey rolled back into the ring and was finished by Balor moments later.
Later in the show, Rollins and Riddle argued backstage while being held apart by officials. Rollins told Riddle if he wanted a rematch to name the time and place and Riddle made the challenge for a "fight pit" match at Extreme Rules, which Rollins accepted.
By reviving the "fight pit," Triple H continues to bring bits of his old run with NXT creative to the main roster. Rollins and Riddle need one final blowoff match, but Extreme Rules really needs to be the end of the road for their story. While the matches were good, having two bouts take up so much television time when you knew they wouldn't end until interference took place was somewhat limiting in how you observed things. Grade: B-
