WWE Raw results, recap, grades: CM Punk addresses Drew McIntyre, Judgment Day dominates
Punk prepares for Hell in a Cell as Judgment Day puts the roster on notice
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre's blood feud continues to draw attention and Judgment Day is once again becoming a roster-wide threat on Monday nights. These were the two biggest stories coming out of WWE Raw on Monday.
Punk spoke for the first time since being stretchered out of Raw two weeks ago following McIntyre's ruthless attack. The fired-up former WWE champion made his intentions clear heading into a Hell in a Cell match against his rival at Bad Blood on Oct. 5.
Monday's episode heavily featured Judgment Day. The villainous group continued tormenting exiled members Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley, while making new enemies and loose alliances.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
CM Punk is ready to go to hell, Judgment Day reigns supreme
Punk kicked off Raw by addressing the audience. Punk, 45, said he had "way more" matches in him than people might think. Punk claimed his loved ones told him not to step into Hell in a Cell with McIntyre. But Punk is too stubborn to back down. Punk promised to make McIntyre bleed at Bad Blood. If this is Punk's last match, so be it, but he vowed to drag McIntyre to hell with him.
Backstage, Priest convened with the New Day. Priest rallied Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to take the world tag titles off Judgment Day. New Day was on the same page but asked Priest not to interfere in their match. Priest agreed.
Later in the evening, Finn Balor caught up with Ripley. Balor accused Ripley of being just as selfish as Priest during her stint as the faction's leader. Ripley said if Balor wanted to paint her and Priest as bad guys, they'd show him how bad they can be. Balor informed Ripley that he was in Dominik Mysterio's ear, encouraging him to betray Ripley for Liv Morgan. Jey Uso stepped in. Balor warned Uso to stay focused on his intercontinental title match because Ripley was out of his league.
Priest def. Mysterio via pinfall after hitting a South of Heaven chokeslam. Priest roughed up Mysterio for much of the match while Judgment Day watched on with concern. Mysterio took control after landing a suicide dive set up by Judgment Day's ringside distractions. Ripley later arrived to help Priest clear out the interfering Judgment Day members. The most notable spot here was Ripley launching Morgan over the announcers' table.
Judgment Day pounced on Priest and Ripley post-match. Morgan hit Ripley with Oblivion and Balor crushed Priest with multiple Coup de Graces. Uso tried to rescue the Terror Twins but was cut off by a Bron Breakker spear.
Raw opened with a terrific promo by Punk but one that did little further elevate his feud with McIntyre. There's nothing wrong with a textbook promo to move things along when a feud is this hot. This week's show did a great job of making Raw's locker room feel alive. The Terror Twins, New Day, Latino World Order, Uso, Breakker and Ilja Dragunov crossed paths in various ways with Judgment Day. It's a quick and effective way of laying the groundwork for stories in the coming weeks and months. Grade: B+
