WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez win the women's tag team titles
Morgan and Rodriguez secured the titles in Raw's main event
WWE has new women's tag team champions. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez scored a win over Bianca Belair and Naomi in the main event of Raw on Monday night to capture the titles and give Morgan an extra boost of momentum heading into Saturday's Elimination Chamber event.
Belair and Noami grew increasingly certain in recent weeks that Morgan and Rodriguez were behind the attack that sidelined Jade Cargill, despite Morgan and Rodriguez repeatedly suggesting they were not involved. Those tensions led to an attack on Morgan at ringside that also caused a distraction and led to Rodriguez losing her Elimination Chamber qualifying match.
Now, Morgan, Belair and Naomi are all set to enter the Chamber in Toronto with the former champions looking for revenge while Morgan will be outnumbered with Rodriguez stuck on the outside looking in.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati.
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez win the women's tag team titles
Women's Tag Team Championship -- Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez def. Bianca Belair & Naomi (c) via pinfall to win the titles. Belair and Naomi were battling constant underhanded tactics from Judgment Day throughout the match, including repeated interference from Dominik Mysterio. After a match that saw several believable near-falls, Rodriguez took out Belair on the outside before stopping Naomi from hitting a split-legged moonsault on Morgan and driving her head into the ring post. After Naomi fell back into the ring, Morgan secured the cover to score the women's tag team championship.
The main event really benefited from several moments where it seemed the match was over only for a pin to be broken up or a kick-out at two. The feeling of uncertainty over which team would win grew as the match went on and that added to the drama down the stretch. Morgan now heads into Elimination Chamber as one half of the tag team champions but without Rodriguez. Meanwhile, both Belair and Naomi qualified for the Chamber, and both will certainly looking to get revenge with Rodriguez locked out of the cage. Grade: B+
What else happened on WWE Raw?
- A confrontation between Logan Paul and CM Punk opened the show. Paul was out first, taking time to run down his home state of Ohio before talking up his chances to win Saturday's Elimination Chamber. Punk cut off Paul and the two exchanged words, with Punk pointing out that he's a legend and history-maker while Paul is barely a flash in the pan and won't be around long enough for fans to remember who he is. Paul eventually slapped Punk in the face and ducked out of the ring and up the entrance ramp before Punk could retaliate.
- Ludwig Kaiser def. Pete Dunne and Penta via pinfall after hitting a Square Hammer DDT on Dunne. Penta seemingly had the match won but Kaiser stopped him from hitting a Penta Driver and tossed him from the ring before putting Dunne away.
- Rhea Ripley was interviewed and said she's fully focused on next Monday's women's world championship title defense against Iyo Sky because she has never beaten Sky, but they haven't wrestled for five years. Sky interrupted to say she would win the title and go on to WrestleMania as champion.
- New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) def. LWO (Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde) via pinfall after Up, Up, Down, Down on Del Toro. Dragon Lee attempted to attack New Day after the match but New Day put him down with a double powerbomb.
- Gunther def. Akira Tozawa via submission with a sleeper hold. Gunther said he hand-picked Tozawa for a match after seeing Tozawa doing "TikTok dances" with Alpha Academy backstage. Gunther said he and Tozawa have things in common, uprooting their lives in other countries for WWE and getting in the best shape of their lives, but he became champion while Tozawa was content to be a joke. Gunther overcame an early Tozawa charge for the win and then choked out Otis after the match before Jey Uso ran to the ring, leading Gunther to duck out of the ring before the two came to blows.
- Women's Intercontinental Championship -- Lyra Valkyria (c) def. Dakota Kai via pinfall with Nightwing. After the match, Ivy Nile ran in and attacked both women before picking up Valkyria's title belt and standing over the champion.
- Bron Breakker def. Dominik Mysterio via disqualification after interference by Carlito and Finn Balor. After the match, Breakker got his revenge on Carlito and Mysterio but Balor slid out of the ring before Breakker could get his hands on him.
- Seth Rollins confronted Cody Rhodes over the offer Rhodes received from The Rock. Rollins told Rhodes that he needs to know what he is thinking, because it can't be that Rhodes is considering Rock saying he "wants his soul." Rollins told Rhodes that he intends to win the Elimination Chamber and face Rhodes at WrestleMania, but he wants the version of Rhodes he faced in the past and the one he helped beat Roman Reigns at last year's WrestleMania to win the undisputed WWE championship, not a version that sold out to The Rock.
