WWE Raw results, review, grades: Logan Paul knocks out CM Punk, aligns with Paul Heyman and The Vision
Paul faked out Punk when he appeared to aid the new champion, only to then take him out
Two days after winning the world heavyweight championship, things took a bad turn for CM Punk. Unsurprisingly, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman put Punk in their crosshairs, and by the end of Raw on Monday night, the group had brought a new member into the fold.
Logan Paul helped Punk early in the night, and appeared to be doing the same to end the show. Unsurprisingly, Paul was not to be trusted and laid Punk out with brass knuckles before appearing to signal his alignment with Heyman and his crew.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Rio Rancho Event Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Logan Paul drops CM Punk, aligns with The Vision
CM Punk opened the show with an in-ring promo, promising to be a fighting champion and defend the world heavyweight championship against anyone who deserved an opportunity. This brought out Logan Paul, who taunted the crowd and said that if anyone had earned a shot at the belt, it was him. This, in turn, brought out Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, with Heyman telling Paul that the line for a title shot started behind Reed and Breakker. Punk eventually told Paul that it was time to fight, so he could either fight along side him or get out of the ring. Paul did leave, but eventually came back to try to aid Punk. After the opening brawl, Punk went to Jey Uso and asked him to team against Breakker and Reed later in the show.
CM Punk & Jey Uso vs. Bronson Reed & Bron Breakker ended in a double countout. The match eventually spilled outside the ring, and the teams did not stop brawling before the referee's count reached 10. After the match, the brawl continued, with Reed and Breakker eventually getting the upper hand. Uso was hit with a spear from Breakker and a Tsunami from Reed before Punk slid into the ring with a chair. Rather than run, Reed and Breakker grabbed chairs of their own. Logan Paul then slid into the ring to stand alongside Punk. Paul slipped on brass knuckles before he turned and knocked out Punk. Paul then handed the brass knuckles to Heyman before the two laughed as the show went off the air.
Paul briefly flashing a turn to the babyface side was intriguing, but he sensibly turned on Punk, maintaining his status as arguably the most unlikeable man in WWE. Really, the point of all of this is the start of a build to Survivor Series. It makes sense for Reed and Breakker to be involved in WarGames, but they need teammates. Paul is an easy heel to slot in alongside them, either as a real member of their group or just someone in a temporary alliance. Grade: B
